How to draw a face on DRAWMYFACE

DRAWMYFACE is an anonymous wall of hand-drawn faces, and adding yours takes about a minute. There is nothing to install and no account to create — this guide walks you through the whole thing, from finding an empty spot to editing your drawing later.

One thing before we start: you do not need to be good at drawing. The wall runs on wobbly lines and questionable proportions. A face drawn in forty seconds with a finger on a phone is exactly the kind of face that belongs here.

Step 1 — Find an empty face

Open the main wall and you will land at the bottom, where the newest drawings live. The pale, featureless mannequin heads are empty slots waiting for someone — tap any of them to claim it. If every mannequin is taken, press the [+] card at the end of the wall to add three more slots for everyone.

Each empty face already has a skin tone assigned to its slot, so the wall stays colorful and varied without anyone having to think about it.

Step 2 — Draw

Tapping an empty face opens the editor: a blank head, a color palette, and a brush. Pick a color, draw your strokes, and switch colors as often as you like. The brush size slider changes line thickness — thin lines for details like eyes, thick ones for hair or glasses.

Made a mess? The eraser removes ink without touching the mannequin underneath. Many of the best faces on the wall were 'mistakes' their artists decided to keep, so do not erase too eagerly.

Drawing works with a finger on phones and tablets, or a mouse on desktop. Phones are honestly the nicer way to doodle — if you are on a PC, you can keep using the mouse just fine.

Step 3 — Add hashtags (optional)

On the main wall you can attach up to three hashtags to your drawing before posting — things like #cat, #monday, or #selfportrait. Every tag has its own wall collecting all faces drawn with it, so tagging your drawing puts it in more places and lets people discover it by topic.

Drawings in private rooms skip tags entirely: rooms are link-only spaces, so they stay out of any public index.

Step 4 — Press Done

Hit Done and your face joins the wall instantly — no review queue, no waiting. You will land back on the wall with a little confetti and your drawing sitting in the slot you picked. That is the entire flow.

After posting: edit, delete, replay

Your own drawings show a small pencil badge in the corner. Tap one to open it, and you can edit it (the editor reopens with your strokes intact) or delete it. This works from the same browser you drew in — ownership lives in your browser, not in an account, so if you clear site data or switch devices, the drawing stays on the wall but can no longer be edited.

Tap any face on the wall — yours or anyone's — to watch a replay of it being drawn stroke by stroke. The replay is the soul of this place: a finished face is a picture, but the drawing process is a little performance.

You can also like faces, save them as PNG cards, animated GIFs or MP4 videos, and share a link that opens straight to that face with the replay ready to play.

Tips from the wall

Simple reads better than detailed: two dots and a line can be a masterpiece of expression. Watch a few replays before drawing — you will steal good tricks. Start with the eyes; the whole personality of a face lives there. And if your drawing comes out terrible, post it anyway. Terrible is the house style.
